The Jane Show

Synopsis

The Jane Show stars Second City Alumna Teresa Pavlinek as Jane Black, a 30-something wannabe writer who foregoes her dream of becoming a novelist to join the ’normal’ nine-to-five world - only to discover it’s anything but.

Season One

Jane’s been plugging away at her first novel for the past ten years, paying her bills by working for an eccentric author. When he suddenly dies, Jane’s left with no job, no money, and a heap of regret. Tired of the struggle, Jane decides she needs some structure in her life, a sense of stability, a regular pay-cheque and a dental plan. At 33 years old, is that too much to ask? So, reluctantly putting on hold her dreams of being a great novelist, she jumps headlong into the working world. But as Jane navigates the strange new rules and rituals of corporate culture at Spirits Brokerage, our hyper-imaginative heroine is also confronted with the harsh realities of being a single woman in her thirties.

Season Two

Having reluctantly put her aspirations as a writer aside to join the so-called ‘normal’ nine-to-five world with a regular paycheck, always-original heroine Jane Black traverses the bizarre rules and rituals of office life. Now comfortably entrenched in her new world, Jane’s relationships with her colleagues, friends and family are further explored.
