Two For Joy

Two For Joy

Synopsis

An increasingly strained relationship between a daughter, her mother and rascal younger brother reaches critical mass. Something must give.

Two For Joy is an authentic and uplifting coming of age story of one family’s life. Mother, Aisha (Samantha Morton, In America) her teenage daughter Vi (Emilia Jones, Utopia) and young adolescent son are at a crossroads in their lives, with Aisha’s depression bringing them close to the brink.

As mother-daughter roles are reversed, Vi is Aisha’s carer while also trying to control her younger brother who, with no father figure and a struggling mother, is a law unto himself. A portrait of modern Britain seen through the eyes of a family in crisis, Two For Joy highlights issues affecting marginal communities, including young carers, mental illness and national identity.
