The Ambassador

Synopsis

A powerful, thrilling drama series set in a world of deception, mistrust and betrayal, The Ambassador is created by award-winning writer Russell Lewis (Inspector Morse, Kavanagh QC, Between the Lines, Sharpe).

Filmed entirely on location in Dublin, the series features an acclaimed cast with starring roles for Pauline Collins (Shirley Valentine) and Denis Lawson (Local Hero).

Pauline Collins plays Ambassador Harriet Smith, who holds one of Britain’s most coveted and powerful Embassy posts. John Stone, played by Denis Lawson, is Harriet’s determined commercial attaché and main aide. But Stone also works to another master – MI6 (the British Intelligence Agency).

The Ambassador’s job as trouble-shooter for Britain takes her into a sinister and dangerous world far removed from the cocktail parties of Downing Street. Surrounded by deception and mistrust from both inside and outside the Embassy walls, there are many who would like to see Harriet fail.

Recently widowed, Harriet must perform a delicate balancing act between raising her two teenage sons and the demands of her career. She’s a strong woman and needs to be. As a mother, she has problems relating to her sons and though she cares deeply about them, as the Ambassador, Britain must always come first...
